At a college election for president, exactly 963 votes were cast.
There are total of 4 candidates that participate in the election.

The winning candidate exceeds the opponents by 53, 79 and 105 votes.

How many votes do each candidate gets ?

Let us assume 'X' to be winner anN rest candidate are L, M & N


L = X - 53
M = X - 79
N = X - 105

X + X - 53 + X - 79 + X - 105 = 963
4X = 1,200
X = 300

L = 300 - 53
L = 247

M = 300 - 79
M = 221

N = 300 - 105
N = 195

Answer: X = 300, L = 247, M = 221, N = 195

Verify the ans
=> 300 + 247 + 221 + 195
=> 963
